Expert led, bespoke hypnobirthing classes in the North East for parents who are looking to feel calm and confident about their baby's birth.
Come and join me, Jessica - experienced doula, birth educator and author, at my welcoming antenatal studio in the heart of rural Northumberland.
Want in depth, tailored birth preparation for just you and your birth partner?
If you're feeling ready to become the leading character in your pregnancy and birth journey, but know you'd both benefit from the nurturing support of a birthy 'wise woman'...
My private birth preparation and hypnobirthing course might be just what you need...

Come, join me for the best antenatal classes in Northumberland...
To rest, focus on your baby and your upcoming birth together...
We'll have already gone through your current worries, your hopes and wishes for birth, personal/ pregnancy history and what you'd most like to get our of your course during our initial video call consultation. So on the day(s) we can just get straight into getting you prepared for birth.
Your doula led classes are broken up into enjoyable, easy to digest 2 hour sessions and we'll be covering everything around the mind/ body connection in pregnancy and birth, the physical aspects of birth, how to be an awesome birth partner, as well as talking through your choices and what feels right for YOU. My aim is for you both to head into your baby's birth feeling confident, clued up and in control.
Despite having had a long running, award winning group antenatal course, which has run for the best part of a decade, I've recently realised that private care by far has the best results for parents. Both in terms of how birth eventually goes on to unfold - but also in terms of your care with me throughout pregnancy.
With a private, bespoke service you are given that space to really be honest... with yourselves, each other, me. You have the privacy to give voice to fears, to share what you really want from birth without the worry of offending others, or being judged.
A lot of a doulas 'magic' happens during the antenatal period; there is something invaluable about having that 1-2-1 support, understanding and bespoke care. Having someone who really hears you, has your best interests at heart and knows how best to support you in making aligned decisions. During our 8 hours together we'll be working through inner 'blocks', and generally just being a safe space for you to explore yourself and your pregnancy & birth journey.

And a Dad, too...!

Meet your hypnobirthing teacher...
Hi! I'm Jessica Ord, award winning birth educator, Doula, author & hypnobirthing specialist.
Having founded Positively Pregnant in 2018, shortly after the birth of our son Monty; I pride myself in providing the very best in depth, evidence based but heart centred bespoke classes.
My approach to birth education is holistic and woman centred, weaving ancient wisdom with evidence based modern knowledge.
Over the past 8 years I have won several major awards, including 'Best Antenatal course - UK', 'Hypnobirthing Specialist of the Year' and 'Best in pregnancy support services'.
Why embark on a birth preparation or antenatal course with a Doula?
Well, with 8 years of experience as a holistic pregnancy & birth professional under my belt, you can rest assured, knowing that my courses and care are based on the reality of navigating the maternity system and my lived experiences in the birth room, rather than something I learned on a course or in a book
(although, of course, I have done LOTS of training over the years too!)
I'm currently writing my second book, 'Ancient Wisdom/ Modern Birth' - where I'm exploring the lost wisdom of childbirth and guiding my readers along a journey where perhaps they're able to use that knowledge in the present day landscape of birth.
I know what you really need to know, understand and have access to in order to have a beautiful experience of birth, no matter what your circumstances or wishes are.

Founded in Northumberland...
HELPING PARENTS ACROSS THE UK
Although my 'in person' hypnobirthing classes are based from our idyllic family farm in Northumberland, and now John Lewis in Newcastle too...
I proudly work with parents from across the UK and beyond through the award winning Positively Pregnant Online Hypnobirthing course.

Session 1: The Mind/Body Connection...
We begin with the most powerful place of all - your mind.
In this session, we’ll explore how your thoughts, fears and beliefs around birth can directly impact the way your labour unfolds.
You’ll learn simple yet powerful hypnobirthing techniques to rewire those patterns, release fear, and move into a space of deep trust.
This is where the real preparation begins – clearing the path for your body to do what it already knows how to do.

Session 2: (How) Birth Works
Let’s demystify labour. In this session, we dive deep into how the body works during physiological birth when left undisturbed.
We’ll explore what starts labour, how contractions build, what the different phases might look and feel like, and most importantly - what you and your partner can do at each stage to support the flow of labour.
Knowledge is power, and this is where you’ll gain it.

Session 3: Birth rights, choices & interventions...
This is your birth, your body, your baby - and your choices matter.
In this session, we shine a light on the landscape of modern birth care: interventions, your rights, and how to confidently navigate your options.
You’ll learn how to spot unnecessary intervention, how to ask the right questions, and how to advocate for yourself with clarity and calm.

Session 4: Biomechanics and Postnatal Planning
This final session is all about supporting your body before & during labour, and your life after birth.
We’ll explore gentle biomechanics - practical ways to support optimal baby positioning and comfort in labour, as well as the golden hours and weeks post-birth.
Expect honest conversations, partner prep, and a nourishing deep-dive into what you really need to feel held, rested and resourced in early motherhood.
Did you know....
By law, you're entitled to paid time off for antenatal classes (including these ones!)
In the UK you're allowed to take time out of work in order to attend your antenatal appointments; a lot of people think this just means your scans & midwife/ consultant appointments. But the government also include in this 'parentcraft' classes, yoga and 'relaxation' classes.
The Positively Pregnant Studio is open throughout the week - including some evenings. But you don't need to take holiday leave to attend during 'office hours'.

Rebeccas's positive birth story...
"I still don't fully have the words for what this birth meant to me, but it was like a gift from the universe to experience such a raw, healthy, primal joy.
Labour was so magical...getting into the pool was bliss, and then I had a little panic. The midwife told me to feel for the baby's head. And the whole world went still. I didn't feel any pain at all, just total sublime joy and awe.
And then I just held his head and waited, it was like time was suspended & I knew I was about to meet my baby."
The course was amazing from start to finish.
Jessica was so warm and welcoming, she has the kindest soul and makes you feel at ease.
She was full of knowledge and helps you look at all angles of your options for birth.
I loved learning about about the rights we have as pregnant women; the course is something I won’t ever forget and has really helped me to prepare for birth. I no longer feel scared but instead I feel excited, positive and empowered.
Amazing, amazing, amazing!!
Beccy, 1st time mum
Loved the hypnobirthing course! It really helped me to get into the right mindset before giving birth to my first baby.
I found my hospital birth to be a very positive experience and even though I didn’t plan a water birth my labour went so quickly that I ended up having an unmedicated water birth, in a beautiful room just as I dreamed of but before the course didn’t think was possible.
Hanna, 1st time Mum
Jess was an absolutely crucial role in our pregnancy and birth.
Our home birth was 3 days long, in the end, and it was an emotional and physical marathon for me. And for her, too…a lot of hip pressing was involved!
But with Jess’ steadfast support and confidence, I never feared the outcome. I learned to trust in my decisions, in my body and was able to have the birth I’d always wanted.
Whenever I think back to the birth, I can see Jess there...gently encouraging and supporting us throughout, like some kind of birth angel!
Emma, 2nd time Mum
